Day 1: Depart from New York, JFK or Chicago, ORD

Day 2: Oslo

Arrive Oslo and transfer to Oslo hotel.

You will have a full day to explore Oslo, the capital and most populous city of Norway. Stop by the famous Viking Ship Museum, part of the Museum of Cultural History at the University of Oslo, to see Viking age ships and other goods used during the time period. You can then take a short walk to the Kon-Tiki Museum, which houses vessels and maps from Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl's 1947 expedition across the Pacific Ocean from South America to the Polynesian Islands, as well as a library with about 8,000 books. Take a stroll through the Vigeland Sculpture Arrangement which features 212 bronze and granite sculptures within an area of 80 acres, or visit the Holmenkollen Ski Jump Hill, which was used during the 1952 Winter Olympics.

Day 3: Oslo

Another full day to explore Oslo including the Oslofjord inlet area and the Akershus Historical Fortress, a medieval castle (and former prison) built to protect the city of Oslo. You can also check out the Fram Museum, which tells the story of Norwegian Polar Exploration, the Ibsen Museum, the last home of playwright Henrik Ibsen located near the Royal Palace, and more.

Day 4: Train to Bergen

Today your journey takes you on one of the world's most spectacular train rides from Oslo to Bergen, over the breathtaking Hardanger Plateau and down into the heart of Norwegian Fjord Country in Bergen. You will arrive in Bergen in the afternoon and have leisure time to visit the sights of "the City of Seven Mountains," such as Bryggen and the Hanseatic Wharf (a UNESCO World Heritage Site).

Day 5: Bergen

Full day at leisure to explore the narrow streets of Bergen or take an optional tour to the world-renowned Sognefjord, Norway's longest fjord, to the town of Flam, where you can take the Flam Railway up to Myrdal Station, climbing 864 meters in a distance of only twenty kilometers, making it the steepest unassisted railway climb in the world. Overnight in Bergen.

Day 6: Bergen

Full day at leisure in Bergen to visit the Floibanen Funicular with a fabulous view over the city and fjord and the Edvard Grieg Museum, showcasing the life and works of this influential Norwegian composer and pianist, famous for the development of Norwegian folk music. You can also visit the Bergen Aquarium and Science Center which houses over 60 tanks of fish and marine invertebrates, as well as three outdoor ponds with seals and penguins and a tropical exhibit with reptiles and monkeys.

Day 7: Departure

Transfer to the Bergen airport and return to the US
